You would have to be creative with how you want to monetize the final product in order to thrive. Walking the tightrope between the user experience and making money...man, that's a tough one. It all depends on where you draw the line: Are interstitial (full-screen) ads annoying? Are banner ads annoying? Are 30-second videos annoying? You have to do a little bit of user testing within your target demographic to get closer to achieving some kind of balance, but would that be enough? Ajb030 said he enjoys Asphalt 8, so I'm inclined to believe it's possible. |

They're just...well, let me put it this way: After I was fired, I went through a number of other gamedev companies for interviews and heard their presidents talking shit about Gameloft for their high turnover, even though I don't list Gameloft anywhere on my resume. Their reputation precedes them. |

| What in the company culture makes turnover so high and people keen to GTFO as soon as they can? | The corporate culture was actually pretty cool in some regards - there was a games room you could use at any time, you could have alcohol(!) at 4PM on Friday, people had figurines and plushies and nerf guns at their desk, all that. What made turnover so high was how they pigeonhole staff into a position with very little flexibility in what you're doing. Combine that with the company HQ being located in Paris AND all the layers of bureaucratic nightmare within a single STUDIO and it's just a recipe for stress. |

I did have a few interviews with similarly sized companies (Rockstar, Ubisoft, etc.) prior, however, so my best advice for you would be to have one hell of a kickass demo reel. Employers like to see something (ESPECIALLY with animation) over read about it. This is first and foremost. |

Mobile games will usually suck you in for a couple of hours to keep your interest and let you familiarize yourself with the format, then do everything they can to extract money from your wallet once the training period is over. |
